Busting the myth: More Features = Better Website
Anyone else love a good myth busting?
My husband is the king of conspiracy theories and is always trying to prove to me that the earth is flat…. Don’t worry guys he’s joking, he just loves winding me up because I’m all about the FACTS!
So, from now on I’m going to be doing Monday Mythbusters for all things website design, branding, small business and marketing.
Today we’ll be busting the myth: "More Features, Better Website."
Some people believe that stuffing a website with features is the secret sauce to a great user experience. Well, hold your horses, because simplicity is key to getting your point across in most cases.
The key to a good website?
Focus on Usability:
Adding features for the sake of it is like tossing glitter on a cake – it might look cool, but is it really enhancing the taste? Focus on what users need.
What do they need to know?
How does your business solve their problems?
What is the process of working with you?
Proof that you have helped others in their situation.
Practical Over Flashy:
Ever clicked into a website and you can’t find your way around? Just want to send a damn enquiry but everything keeps moving in different directions and you don’t know what to click?
Fancy features might seem cool, but if users can't find what they're after, they won't stick around. Content beats theatrics.
No Confusion, Just Clarity:
When users land on your website, they must go through a clear journey. You need to be directing them to the end result you and they are after and it should flow seamlessly. Think of your site as a puzzle. Each feature should fit effortlessly, not create chaos. Keep it straightforward, and things will click.
👀 Reality Check: Simplicity enhances usability. Keep it clean and user-friendly!
